ASUS, like I know is the quality manufacturer from Taiwan that produce motherboard of computer. Many people use their product because the quality and some of their product has capability to overclock.

I’m not sure eMachines series from Acer available in Indonesian market. But last time when I buy my new laptop, I notice this notebook in one of store in Nagoya Hill, Batam. eMachines eMD620 is notebooks sports with an AMD 64bit processor running on 1.6GHz at 800MHz FSB, an ATI Radeon X1200 Graphics processor and 1GB of DDR2 RAM at 800MHz FSB.
And like other new laptop, the eMachines eMD620 notebooks is preloaded with Windows Vista Home Basic, but if you want to install Windows XP on it, you can download the eMD620 drivers for Windows XP SP2 below.

Akhirnya ada kesempatan juga untuk membuat akte kelahiran bagi si junior. Sudah hampir 2 bulan sejak kelahirannya dan baru tanggal 18 Maret 2009 kemaren saya memulainya. Sebenarnya proses pembuatan akte kelahiran ini sudah dilakukan sejak 2 minggu setelah kelahiran, hanya saja karena pak RT yang sibuk dengan kegiatan luar maka mau tidak mau surat pengantar dari RT begitu lama saya dapatkan. Yup, pak RT kami sedang mencoba meraih mimpinya yaitu menjadi anggota legislatif DPRD tingkat 2.
Syarat membuat akte kelahiran dimulai dengan adanya surat pengantar RT lalu di acknowledge oleh RW dimana isi surat pengantar ini berisi pernyataan bahwasanya anak kami dan kami benar-benar warga perumahan Marchelia, batam center. Secara urutan syarat-syarat membuat akte kelahiran di kota Batam ini adalah sebagai berikut:
1. Surat pengantar RT yang diketahui oleh RW.
2. Kartu Tanda Penduduk (KTP) orang tua.
3. Kartu Keluarga (KK) orang tua.
4. Akte Nikah orang tua
5. Surat keterangan lahir dari bidan atau dokter yang menolong
Kesemua berkas diatas di photokopi rangkap 2 dimana nantinya rangkap 1 akan menjadi arsip kelurahan sedangkan rangkap berikutnya akan kita bawa ke dinas kependudukan guna pengurusan akte kelahiran ini.
Semua berkas sudah disiapkan dan langsung meluncur ke kantor kelurahan, tiba di kelurahan jam 08:00 pagi dan kantor kelurahan sudah buka dengan hanya 1 pegawai yang standby. Akhirnya setelah mengutarakan keperluan pada bapak perangkat kelurahan disodori 1 formulir untuk diisi. Formulir ini sangat sederhana yang nantinya ditanda tangani oleh pak lurah. Proses pengisian form sangat dibantu oleh perangkat kelurahan dan selesai dengan cepat, hanya saja pak lurah tidak ada di tempat.
Akhirnya setelah menunggu sekitar 2,5 jam form yang saya isi telah ditanda tangani oleh pak lurah. Di sini tidak ada biaya sama sekali alias gratis, sebelumnya di tingkat RT dan RW pun gratis. Lalu dengan segera berangkat ke Sekupang menuju dinas kependudukan.
Di Dinas Kependudukan, bayar 5000 sebagai pengganti map dan formulir. Pastikan semua terisi juga sertakan tanda tangan dan photokopi 2 orang saksi. Nah disinilah kejadian uniknya, karena saya ke sana sendirian dan sebelumnya saya juga tidak tahu kalau di formulir yang dari dinas kependudukan harus menyertakan saksi. Akhirnya setelah bercakap sebentar dengan sesama pembuat akte kelahiran, kami pun menjadi saksi diantara kami juga saling berbagi photokopi KTP.
Akhirnya formulir bisa diserahkan ke petugas loket penerimaan pembuatan akte kelahiran. Tanpa ada syarat lagi akhirnya mbak petugas itu bilang “Pak, datang ke sini lagi tanggal 1 april 2009 untuk mengambil aktenya”. Wah tak ada biaya apapun toh ternyata membuat akte kelahiran. tapi ini saya mau pastikan terlebih dahulu nanti di tanggal 1 April 2009 saat mengambil akte kelahiran, jika ini memang gratis maka benar-benar saya salut dengan pemerintah kota Batam. Proses sangat mudah dan waktunya pun cepat. Semoga akte ini gratis.
Hanya saja ini sebelum 60 hari setelah kelahiran, setelah 60 hari dengar-dengar sih kena denda pembuatan akte kelahirannya. Sedangkan jika lebih dari 1 tahun akan ada penetapan dari pengadilan yang artinya akte kelahiran keluar setelah melalui persidangan.
Akhirnya pilihan untuk membeli laptop dijatuhkan ke HP Compaq Presario CQ40. Laptop ini merupakan varian baru dari Compaq dan memiliki spesifikasi yang lumayan bagus dan tentunya disesuaikan dengan budget yang tersedia. Compaq Presario CQ40 memiliki 2 jenis prosesor yaitu Intel core 2 duo dan AMD Turion X2 64bit. Dan kali ini saya mencoba untuk menggunakan Compaq Presario yang dipersenjatai dengan CPU AMD Turion X2 64bit.
Selain CPU AMD Turion X2, laptop ini memiliki integrated webcam dan microphone, 1 port HDMI, 3 port USB, 5 in 1 integrated digital media reader dan tentunya tidak ketinggalan LightScribe SuperMulti DVD +/-R/RW with double layer support. Dan untuk lebih asyik mendengarkan musik atau film, laptop compaq Presario CQ40 dilengkapi dengan built-in Altec Lansing speaker sedangkan monitornya menggunakan teknologi Brightview widescreen 14.1″. lalu untuk bermobilitas di cafe atau hotspot, tentu saja sudah dilengkapi dengan wifi dari Broadcom.
Laptop Compaq Presario CQ40 dari penjualnya tidak diinstall Operating System apapun kecuali FreeDOS. Hal ini sangat membantu saya dan tentunya sangat saya sukai dengan kondisi seperti ini. Tinggal saya masukkan CD installer Linux Ubuntu dan kembali berUbuntu ria di laptop. lalu tak lupa saya upgrade memorinya yang semula hanya 1Gb menjadi 2Gb lagipula HDD yang disertakan mempunyai kapasitas 250Gb dan ini sudah lebih dari cukup karena sebelumnya saya hanya menggunakan laptop Acer dengan kapasitas 80gb.
Sepulang dari sana, maka Linux Ubuntu mulai beraksi. Dan kali ini Linux Ubuntu yang saya gunakan adalah versi Ubuntu 8.10 yang notabene pernah mengecewakan saya di laptop sebelumnya. Saya ingin tahu apakah dengan spesifikasi laptop yang lebih tinggi maka Ubuntu 8.10 akan bekerja dengan baik. Benar saja setelah menjawab beberapa pertanyaan saat instalasi Linux Ubuntu 8.10, dalam waktu kurang dari 15 menit Ubuntu sudah siap bekerja. Saya disini tidak menggunakan opsi LiveCD untuk melihat dulu apakah hardware di Compaq presario CQ40 telah disupport oleh Ubuntu 8.10 atau tidak. Yang saya pilih adalah langsung install ke laptop. Akhirnya setelah mendengar sound pembukaan dari Ubuntu 8.10 ada kelegaan tersendiri karena ini artinya sound sudah bekerja dengan baik.
Lalu saya check wirelessnya, wow..langsung bekerja dan tak perlu compile source code seperti jaman laptop Acer. Langsung bisa saya koneksikan dengan wireless router Linksys BEFW11S4. Ini membuat saya makin kagum karena tombol ON/OFF wireless yang disediakan oleh Compaq diatas keyboard pun bisa digunakan. Begitu juga dengan LAN ethernet card yang langsung bisa terkoneksi dengan jaringan internet di rumah.
Sound oke, wireless ON, LAN running, maka sekarang bagaimana dengan webcam yang terintegrasi di laptop ini?, dengan bantuan cheese, webcam bisa langsung dioperasikan tanpa ada settingan yang lain. Walhasil semua hardware bekerja dengan baik hanya saja modem internal yang belum saya coba. Tapi di era wireless seperti sekarang ini apakah modem masih perlu diaktifkan kembali?
Biarlah modem internal tersebut mati suri dan waktu yang digunakan untuk ngoprek modem bisa digunakan untuk merubah ubuntu 8.10 yang saya install menjadi ubuntu Muslim Edition 8.10.
Secara keseluruhan laptop Compaq Presario CQ40 sangat Linux Friendly dan bisa direkomendasikan bagi para Linux fanatics atau yang hanya ingin menikmati Linux di laptopnya.
